Avenue Road Roofing was founded in 1975 by David A. Stokes, who followed from day one, this simple – but highly effective – success formula:
“Tell people what they really need. Don’t sell them a major service if it is not necessary. And if the service is anything less than optimal, make it right.”
Sales grew rapidly, with most of the growth focused in the neighbourhoods of Rosedale, Forest Hill, Lawrence Park and the downtown area, where Avenue Road Roofing demonstrated that it could complete some of the steepest, most complex and architecturally challenging residential and commercial roofing projects.
Sales soon expanded into the suburbs of the GTA and the company expanded, as well, when Tony Pateropoulos and Edward Standish became partners with David in 1989. They shared similar values and each helped grow specific areas of the company.
Edward is credited for having taken charge of the production division and for establishing and maintaining uniform standards of workmanship that set Avenue Road Roofing apart from competing roofers. Tony led sales & marketing and was the driving force behind the significant sales growth that ultimately made Avenue Road Roofing the #1 roofing company in the GTA.
